Having a Vietnamese-French heritage, Barbara Bui gains inspiration for her collections from the ‘urban cool’ of the world. Starting her mark on the global fashion world in the early 80s, Ms. Bui brings an experience, innovation, and an effortlessly chic attitude to her designs. From Paris, New York, and Dubai her brand is highly sought after by celebrities and the fashion lovers alike.
The Barbara Bui fashion label claimed its stake in 1983, when Ms. Bui opened up her boutique on the Rue de Turbigo in Paris. There, she began selling her own designer wares and thus, slowly ventured into the fashion world. A few years later, Ms. Bui had her inaugural fashion show in Paris with her premiere full collection for the international press and buyers; her namesake’s brand was officially born.
One year later, the first Barbara Bui boutique opens its doors on rue Etienne Marcel in Paris; it is met with great praise and international success.
A decade later, the brand goes on the stock market and pushes for further brand development by creating several other lines including one of androgynous separates; this is also well received and pushes Ms. Bui to expand her brand farther.
Shortly after, the brand has its first international fashion show in New York and opens a boutique in the heart of Soho; at this time, other boutique shops are launched including one in Milan, and in the Avenue Montaigne in Paris.
In 2000, the brand goes forth into the luxury accessories market with hand bags and footwear; this further increases its success and international acclaim.
Presently, the brand has international boutiques in Russia, Italy, USA, Monaco, and Lebanon. Celebrities and high profile people who are avid fans of the brand include Ciara, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Zoe Saldana, Evan Rachel Wood, Lake Bell, Jessica Alba, Rachel Weisz, and Rachel Zoe.
