Before he became a world-renown sophisticated shoe and hand bag designer, Jimmy Choo, was nothing more than Mr. Chow misspelled on a birth certificate. Little would he know, that tiny misfortune would lead to an empire of international proportions.
Jimmy Choo was born in Penang, Malaysia to a family of shoemakers. This craft was borne into his blood so deeply, that by the age of 11, Mr. Choo had created his first pair of shoes. Intrigued with the art and its methodology, Mr. Choo continued to perfect his shoe designs by studying in Hackney, England at the London College of Fashion. Upon his scholastic completions, Mr. Choo went on the produce highly admired and venerated shoe designs out of a small shop.
In the late 1980s, his career and high-end shoe designs gained its greatest notoriety when Vogue magazine featured his shoes on a lengthy magazine spread.
Ten years later, Mr. Choo formally co-founded Jimmy Choo Ltd. His exquisite designs have been celebrated for their craftsmanship, and intense artistry. His work has won Mr. Choo numerous international accolades including a state award from the Sultan of Penang and OBE-Order of the British Empire-by Queen Elizabeth II for his achievements in the U.K. fashion industry.
