Born in 1942 and much like Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman’s career of shoe making was borne into his blood by his father. His name and his reputation have become an international staple in the world of high-end fashion shoe designers. His work has been treasured from over 48 countries around the world.
Starting at a young age, Stuart Weitzman studied under his father, shoemaker Seymour Wetizman. Seymour Weitzman operated a successful enterprise in the 1950s titled ‘Seymours Shoes’; of which Mr. Weitzman began designing for his father’s enterprise in his 20s. In 1963, Mr. Weitzman graduated formal school the Wharton School of Business in the University of Pennsylvania. Two years later, Mr. Weitzman took over his father’s business and began carving out a name in the industry for himself. Though he sold the business to a Spanish company in 1972, but Mr. Weitzman continued to design for his father’s company.
In 1994, after much success with the brand, Mr. Weitzman bought back his father’s company. Still designing and creating excellence for the company, Mr. Weitzman sought complete control over the company and its direction. Although the manufacturing is done in Spain, Mr. Weitzman retains full ownership out of New York City, in the United States. The Stuart Weitzman brand is globally renown for classic designs and intuitive beauty. Well known celebrities who don the stylish and fashionable footwear of the Wetizman brand are Jennifer Lopez, Princess Catherine-Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, Sofia Vergara, Beyonce Knowles, Selma Hayek, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Rhianna, and Whitney Port.
